How to Get to Sorrento from Naples

Sorrento can be reached from Naples in four ways: the Circumvesuviana train (~65 min, €6.00), a seasonal ferry from Molo Beverello (~45 min, €13,00/€18,00), the Curreri bus service that runs directly from Naples Capodichino Airport to Sorrento (~75 min, €25) with no transfers needed, or a private transfer door-to-door for a stress-free arrival.

Get to Sorrento from Naples

 1) The Circumvesuviana Train (Budget-Friendly)

The Circumvesuviana is the most popular choice among independent travelers. It’s affordable, scenic, and runs frequently — making it the go-to option if you’re comfortable navigating public transport.

From Naples Central Station (Napoli Centrale)

  • Walk to the lower level of Napoli Centrale and follow signs for Circumvesuviana.
  • Take the line toward Sorrento (Napoli–Sorrento line).
  • Journey time: approximately 65–75 minutes.
  • Ticket cost: around €6 one way.
  • Trains run every 30 minutes;

From Naples International Airport (Napoli Capodichino – NAP)

The airport is not directly connected to the Circumvesuviana. Here’s what to do:

  • Take the Airport Bus (Alibus) to Napoli Centrale or Piazza Garibaldi (approx. 20–30 min, ~€5).
  • Then follow the Circumvesuviana steps above.
  • Total journey time from airport: approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
  • Connects Naples Capodichino Airport to Sorrento (Station/Piazza De Curtis) with daily trips, taking approximately 1h 30m-2h. The main departures from the airport (departures side) are usually at 9:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 7:30 p.m., with intermediate stops including Vico Equense.

The cost is around 25 euro.

3) Ferry from Naples (Scenic & Seasonal)

From April to October, you can take a hydrofoil (aliscafo) or ferry directly from Naples Molo Beverello or Mergellina port to Sorrento. It’s one of the most beautiful ways to arrive.
  • Journey time: approximately 35–50 minutes by hydrofoil.
  • Ticket cost: approximately €13–€18 one way.
  • Operators include Caremar and Alilauro.
  • From the airport, take Alibus to the port.

If you’re traveling with family, have heavy luggage, or simply want a smooth start to your Italian holiday, a private transfer is by far the most comfortable option.
  • Door-to-door service: from the airport directly to your hotel in Sorrento.
  • No luggage hassle, no connections, no crowds.
  • English-speaking local drivers who know the roads and can share tips.
  • Fixed price with no surprises.

Skip the stress and start your Sorrento experience the right way. Our local drivers will meet you at the arrivals hall and take you directly to your accommodation — with a warm welcome and insider knowledge of the Peninsula.
