Small Group Boat Tours in October: Lower Prices, Same Summer Sea

Ask anyone who lives here and they’ll tell you: October is one of the best months on this coast. The days are still warm, the sea has soaked up a whole summer of sun, and the harbours finally get a chance to breathe. Low season also brings one more change: small group boat tours in October cost less.

If you’re thinking about spending a day at sea between Capri, Positano and Amalfi, now is the time to do it.

Why October is the right month to get on a boat

In August there’s a queue at the Blue Grotto, dozens of boats circle the Faraglioni and in Positano you walk shoulder to shoulder. In October the scenery is exactly the same, but the coast empties out. The bays where we stop to swim are quieter, you’ll find a table at the café without waiting, and the lower, golden afternoon light makes the cliffs look even better from the water.

The water is still pleasant for a swim, especially in the first half of the month. Bring a light sweater for the ride back, though: once the sun starts to set, it gets cooler on the boat.

Small group boat tours: what it actually means

These aren’t the big ferries carrying a hundred people. On our small group boat tours you travel with just a few other people on a boat built for comfort, with a skipper who knows every grotto and cove and a guide who speaks English and Italian. You chat, you laugh, you swim and you share the day with other travellers, while still feeling like there are only a few of you on board.

It’s the sweet spot between the public ferry, which is practical but impersonal, and a private boat, which is wonderful but in a different price range.

What really makes the difference: we pick you up

If you’ve ever tried to organise a boat day on your own, you know the most stressful part is getting to the harbour on time. Packed buses, impossible parking, endless steps down to the pier.

On our small group tours, that problem simply doesn’t exist. Pick up and drop off from your accommodation, both in Positano and across the Sorrento Peninsula, is part of the tour. We collect you from your hotel, villa or holiday home, take you to the boat and bring you back at the end of the day. All you have to think about is the sea.

That’s why most of our guests, when they message us after the tour, start by telling us how smoothly everything went.

Two small group boat tours to book in October

Small Group Capri Boat Tour

A full day around the island. You cruise along the Sorrento coastline, then circle Capri with its grottoes, pass between the Faraglioni and stop to swim along the way. Then there’s free time to go up to the Piazzetta, wander the lanes or have lunch with a view. In October, Capri is at its most relaxed.

Small Group Amalfi Coast Boat Tour

The Amalfi Coast seen from the right side: the sea. You sail along the coast to Positano and Amalfi, with time ashore to explore both towns on foot and swim stops in the coves along the way. No hairpin bends, no traffic, just the coastline sliding past.

A few practical tips

  • Book a few days ahead: groups are small and seats fill up even in low season.
  • Leave a spare day: the sea can change in October. If conditions aren’t safe the tour is moved, so don’t plan it for the last day of your trip.
  • What to bring: swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, a sweater for the ride back and comfortable shoes for walking ashore.
  • For Capri: keep in mind the island charges a small landing tax per person.

Book your seat

October goes by fast, and low season is when what you experience compared to what you spend is at its best all year. Small group boat tours in October are the easiest way to see Capri and the Amalfi Coast from the water without the summer crowds. Pick your tour on the website or message us on WhatsApp at +39 379 118 7545: we’ll tell you which dates are available and arrange your pick up.

See you on board.
